Nurse Consultant for Continence. RN; DN Cert; BPhil; MSc; NP Diploma

sharon-eusticeSharon has been in post as a Nurse Consultant for Continence since 1st May 2002.  Previously she was Clinical Leader for a local Community Hospital and the Community Teams.  Her background is District Nursing and she qualified as a Nurse Practitioner and an Independent/Supplementary Nurse Prescriber.

Sharon has held strategic roles on the Executive Committee for a Primary Care Trust and has been involved in a variety of projects like developing primary care services for vulnerable, homeless people.  Her academic profile includes an MSc in Professional Issues, BPhil in Healthcare and the RCN Nurse Practitioner Diploma.

Her research interests have included ‘prompted voiding’, a behavioural therapy for urinary incontinence, which resulted in a systematic review being published with the Cochrane Collaboration.  Her role involves clinical practice; clinical leadership and practice development; research activity; education development and delivery; and service/strategic planning.

Between 2007 and 2009, she was elected as Chair of the Association for Continence Advice, a professional membership organization across the UK.  Currently she is a clinical member of the Professional Executive Committee for NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.  She works closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialists for Continence and the three of them make up the Continence Promotion Service for Cornwall.
