Ann has over 43 years of experience working in multiple areas of Health Care within the National Health Service. Her senior positions have been both clinical and managerial roles.
Ann’s broad experience began working within the area of spinal injuries and neurological diseases. A Continence Care Specialist since 1980, she is highly respected by the health care industry associated with Bladder and Bowel.
She has written and published over 50 articles on the subject of continence care, contributed chapters to 4 medical books and is editor of a patient focused journal. She is a reviewer for the Cochran’s research network and a member of the editorial board of British Journal of Nursing and Continence UK.
Ann served as an Executive member of the Association for Continence Advice and was trustee of the Bladder and Bowel Foundation, a Patient charity. She remains a member of the International and UK Continence Society.
Ann was part of the delegation that worked within the South African DTI initiative ”Britain means Business Enterprise” and has also assisted with the development of services for Singapore, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and Sri Lanka.
Her extensive experience has centered on the development of education courses in the field of Continence – lecturing in Pre- and Post- educational courses at various universities, workshops and conferences in Europe.
As a Continence Specialist, Ann has taken part in the continence service development for two counties in the UK and during that period she also worked and trained health care staff in Leadership and Management Skills.
She was awarded the Florence Nightingale Scholarship and a Winston Churchill Fellowship in addition to a number of local awards for contributing to the furthering of education.
Ann presently serves as Chair and founder of the first National Clinical Supervision Group for senior experts in the field of continence.
As an active participant in continence care she has participated in 2 all party parliamentary groups to promote and raise the profile of continence.
Outside health care, Ann is passionate about her sponsored families and project work in Africa. She enjoys extensive traveling, gardening and shares her home with her pet dog in Hertfordshire.
